Power Spectral Density and Bandwidth Correction of Spectrum Level

The concept of spectrum level is introduced and the conversion of the band level to spectrum level is considered in order to compare the measurement results obtained with different filters. A bandwidth correction provides a relationship between the spectrum and band levels. The relationship is only applicable for a continuous and uniform sound spectrum. For a sound, particularly random sound, which satisfies the criteria, the power spectral density, as a function of frequency, can be determined via the spectrum levels.
