INTRODUCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

This publication is comprised of two parts: general information
\non phosphors, and registered data on individual screens. It is
\nintended to serve two groups of people: phosphor and CRT
\nmanufacturers interested in registering new phosphors and end users
\nof CRT's interested in determining what screen type is most
\nsuitable for an application. In addition to the "hard copy"
\npresentation of the general information and the registered data,
\nthe data is also presented on computer diskette for handy reference
\nuse. The following information pertains to the use of the
\ndiskette.<\/p>\n

1. FILE NAME WWPHO123.WKl<\/p>\n

2. The data is formatted using MS DOS %o be used with IBM
\nCompatible type personal computers.<\/p>\n

3. Any program able to read .WK1 programs should accept this
\nformat. However, this file was written using Lotus 123.<\/p>\n

End users should be warned that checking published data on a
\nphosphor is only the first step in evaluating a phosphor for
\nergonomic criterion. A screen type must be tested by a variety of
\nviewers under conditions similar to what the end user will see to
\nensure there are no ergonomic problems, Flicker is the most
\nintractable problem associated with CRT screens. While published
\npersistence data will serve as a guide to flicker, persistence is
\nnot the only factor, nor even necessarily the primary one, in
\ndetermining whether flicker will be perceived.<\/p>\n

Test methods in publication TEP-105 should be used whenever
\npossible for generating data for new registrations. Phosphor and
\nCRT manufacturers are also urged to re-measure data on old
\nregistered phosphors and submit this new data to be published along
\nwith the old data for comparison in future editions of this
