Allowance is<br \/>\nmade for spectrum shape and guidance is given on an atmospheric<br \/>\nlayering technique for use when atmospheric properties vary over<br \/>\nthe propagation path. A computer program, ESDUpac A7803, is<br \/>\nprovided. It calculates band attenuation using an ideal filter<br \/>\nshape, while a rapid graphical procedure for obtaining the<br \/>\none-third octave band attenuation is also included. The program<br \/>\ngives band attenuation for up to 34, constant percentage or<br \/>\nconstant bandwidth, frequency bands. A maximum of 20 layers may be<br \/>\nused to specify the variation of temperature and relative humidity<br \/>\nalong the propagation path. Two worked examples illustrate the use<br \/>\nof the program and the format of the input and output.
