Preface Filling, Restorative, and Prosthodontic Materials for Dentistry — Volume 2 consists of the following CSA Standards corresponding to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) publications: CAN/CSA-Z349.38 (ISO 1563-1990) — Dental Alginate Impression Material; CAN/CSA-Z349.39 (ISO 4823-1992) — Dental Elastomeric Impression Materials; CAN/CSA-Z349.40 (ISO 6871-1987) — Dental Base Metal Casting Alloys; CAN/CSA-Z349.41 (ISO 6874-1988) — Dental Resin-Based Pit and Fissure Sealants; CAN/CSA-Z349.42 (ISO 6876-1986) — Dental Root Canal Sealing Materials; CAN/CSA-Z349.43 (ISO 7490-1990) — Dental Cypsum-Bonded Casting Investments for Cold Alloys; CAN/CSA-Z349.44 (ISO 8891-1990) — Dental Casting Alloys with Noble Metal Content of 25% up to but not Including 75%; CAN/CSA-Z349.45 (ISO 9333-1990) — Dental Brazing Materials; CAN/CSA-Z349.46 (ISO 9693-1991) — Dental Ceramic Fused to Metal Restorative Materials; and CAN/CSA-Z349.47 (ISO 9917-1991) — Dental Water-Based Cements. All of the National Standards contained within this Volume are first editions. However, due to renumbering, CSA Standard CAN/CSA-Z349.38, Dental Alginate Impression Material, supersedes CSA Standard CAN3-Z349.6 originally published in 1982. This volume, in conjunction with Filling, Restorative, and Prosthodontic Materials for Dentistry— Volume 1, is intended to provide a complete collection of the ISO Standards for dental materials available at the time of publication. Future ISO documents in this area will be considered for adoption as National Standards of Canada for publication as Volume 3. This Volume is a component of the Series of CSA Standards on Dentistry which addresses subject areas including: (a) Filling, Restorative, and Prosthodontic Materials for Dentistry; (b) Dental Instruments and Equipment; and (c) Dental Vocabulary. The Standards within this Volume have been adopted without modification by the CSA Technical Committee on Dentistry (which is fully harmonized with the Canadian Advisory Committee to ISO Technical Committee on Dentistry) under the jurisdiction of the CSA Standards Steering Committee on Health Care Technology. The Standards have been approved as National Standards of Canada by the Standards Council of Canada March 1993 Notes: (1) Use of the singular does not exclude the plural (and vice versa) when the sense allows. (2) Although the intended primary application of this Standard is stated in its Scope, it is important to note that it remains the responsibility of the users of the Standard to judge its suitability for their particular purpose. (3) CSA Standards are subject to periodic review, and suggestions for their improvement will be referred to the appropriate committee.
