The standard describes the engineering of the automation technology of modular plants predominantly in process engineering. Both the module engineering and the plant engineering of the automation technology are considered. The module type package (MTP), which defines and describes the interfaces and functions of the automation technology of modules, and ultimately enables the integration of modules into a process control level, is used to describe the module types. The following aspects are focused on: general concept for the engineering of modular systems; state and service models of modular systems; conceptual architecture and structure of the MTP; structuring the MTP on the basis of various aspects to be considered; interfaces between the services of the module and the PFE; definition and description of the manifest, the administrative file of the MTP; definition and description of the communication interfaces of a module using OPC UA; modelling rules for the creation of the manifest and the communication description contained therein.
