ESDU AERO 00.01.08 gives graphs of the ratio of specific heat capacities (gamma) at one atmosphere pressure for air, argon, carbon dioxide and monoxide, helium, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen and steam as a function of temperature over the range from the onset of liquefaction to the onset of dissociation. A sketch shows pressure-temperature boundaries defining a maximum error in applying the curves of one per cent in the value of gamma minus one. A second sketch shows pressure-temperature boundaries for a one per cent error in calculating specific heat capacities on the assumption that the gas is thermally perfect.
