This Standard specifies requirements for luminaires with built-in transformers or converters for filament lamps (hereafter referred to as "luminaires"), with supply voltages and output voltages not exceeding:

– 1 000 V for Class 0I, Class I, and Class II luminaires and

– 150 V for Class 0 luminaires.

This Standard does not apply to class III luminaires.

It is not necessary to use "Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV)" transformers or "SELV converters to comply with the requirements of this section.

However, such transformers or converters may satisfy the functional requirements of this Standard.

NOTE 1 The scope of this Standard covers the luminaires for lighting ducts.

NOTE 2 The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

IEC 60598-2-6 : 1994 Luminaires – Part 2 : Particular requirements – Section 6 : Luminaires with built-in transformers for filament lamps and Amendment 1 : 1996 (MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/IEC Guide 21-1.
