This Standard defines operational testing procedures for the
\ncommunications between the Federal Alert Gateway and the Commercial
\nMobile Service Provider (CMSP) Gateway over the C-Interface. This
\nincludes operational testing of all processing functionality within
\nthe FEMA-administered Commercial Mobile Alert Service (CMAS)
\nentities and the CMSP-administered CMAS entities that directly
\nimpacts communications over the C-Interface. Operational testing of
\nall other processing within the FEMA and CMSP entities including
\nthe CMSP infrastructure is beyond the scope of this Standard.<\/p>\n
Purpose<\/i><\/p>\n
The purpose of interface testing is to evaluate whether systems
\nor components transmit data and control information correctly to
\neach other. In addition, the tests defined in this Standard may be
\nused during regression testing when updates are made to either the
\nFederal Alert Gateway or the CMSP Gateway.<\/p>\n
Specifically, the Joint ATIS\/TIA CMAS Federal Alert Gateway to
\nCMSP Gateway Interface Testing Specification defines a set of tests
\nto verify the following minimal set of functionality during
\ninterface and regression testing:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Ability to complete the C-Interface startup procedures:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Ability to bring up the IPSec tunnel.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Ability to bring up the TCP\/IP connection.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Ability to receive, process, and acknowledge valid CMAS Alert,
\nUpdate, Cancel, and Required Monthly Test (RMT) messages.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Ability to handle transmission control cease and resume
\nmessages.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Ability to handle link test messages.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Ability to perform CAP retrieval.<\/p>\n
This Standard is not intended to define test cases for the
\ncomplete development lifecycle, nor is it intended to provide
\ncomplete requirements verification or complete compliance testing.
\nRequirements verification testing is typically performed during the
\nunit, integration, and system testing phases and is beyond the
