1 Scope<\/b><\/p>\n

1.1 The requirements in this standard cover safety-related solid-state controls used in household electric ranges. These requirements supplement and, in some cases, amend the requirements in the Standard for Household Electric Ranges, UL 858, the Standard for Temperature-Indicating and -Regulating Equipment, UL 873, and the Standard for Tests for Safety-Related Controls Employing Solid-State Devices, UL 991. Compliance with the Standard for Automatic Electrical Controls for Household and Similar Use, Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60730-1, and\/or the applicable Part 2 standard from the UL 60730 series fulfills the UL 873 requirements.<\/p>\n

1.2 These requirements cover a solid-state control that performs any of the following functions:<\/font><\/p>\n

a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Controls cooktop heating elements.<\/font><\/p>\n

b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Controls oven normal operating temperatures.<\/font><\/p>\n

c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Controls oven self-cleaning cycle operating temperatures.<\/font><\/p>\n

d)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Controls oven self-cleaning cycle door lock system.<\/font><\/p>\n

e)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Controls required signal lights or audible alarms.<\/font><\/p>\n

f)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Serves as a temperature-limiting control for any of the functions noted in (a) – (e).<\/font><\/p>\n

g)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Controls a function essential for the appliance to comply with a specific requirement in the Standard for Household Electric Ranges, UL 858.<\/font><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/p>\n
